Helen celebrates 21 years of Thula Mama

In 2023 Helen celebrated 21 years of running Thula Mama Totnes, the founding group of her mother & baby singing enterprise. The music was featured on BBC Radio 2’s Chris Evans show in 2008 and since then Thula Mama has sold thousands of its much loved music CDs. This led to mothers all over the country contacting Helen to have a Thula Mama group in their town and so she set up a franchise wing.

Helen’s dream when she discovered the joy of singing in her late 30’s was to bring it to her mother friends as soon as her youngest was at playgroup. Thus was born Thula Mama – a  weekly group of mums and babies who meet and sing together. Thula Mama group leaders teach a wide variety of songs in harmony from lullabies   to gospel. Thula Mama itself is a beautiful South African lullaby.
